Our novel Caffeine ELISA (CAFN-96) is intended for highly sensitive, quantitative determination of Caffeine in human saliva, plasma, serum, food extracts, drinks, water, and other biological fluids.
Saliva can be collected with our Salivettes (order code: B-SVC-50-U). The measuring range goes from 3 to 300 ng/mL. After caffeine intake, values can go up to 5000 ng/mL or even higher. With a simply sample dilution of 1:10 the range will cover from 30 to 3000 ng/mL, suitable for most of research purposes.
The ELISA is validated against LC-MS/MS (tandem mass spectrometry) with excellent results (see graph).
ELISA shall work for serum, plasma, urine, (waste) water, drinks, food extracts and other biological fluids upon respective dilution of the samples with Dilution Buffer (included in the kit).
Caffeine (1,3,7-trimethylxanthine) is mostly measured with LC-MS/MS (tandem mass spectrometry) or HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography). Both methods require a somewhat cumbersome sample extraction before running them on the respective and expensive instrumentation. Furthermore, the latter two technologies are labor- and maintenance-intensive, whereas samples can be measured easily and directly using our novel Caffeine ELISA.
